Human + AI Hackathon ($1750 Prize Pool)

E'lon

About the challenge
The Human + AI Hackathon invites students to explore the possibilities of building with AI. Whether you want to solve a real-world problem, create something fun, experiment with a new technology, or reimagine how people interact with AI, this is your chance to bring an idea to life.
This hackathon is open-ended. Build something useful, weird, ambitious, creative, or completely unexpected. Use AI as a tool, a collaborator, or even the subject of your project. We are looking for projects that demonstrate what's possible when human ingenuity and AI work together.
Get started
Find an idea. Think about a problem you want to solve, something you wish existed, or an idea you've always wanted to explore.
Choose your tools. Use any AI models, APIs, frameworks, coding assistants, or other tools that help you bring your idea to life.
Build and experiment. Create a working prototype, test your assumptions, and iterate on your idea.
Share your creation. Submit your project and a short demo that shows what you built, how it works, and why it matters.

Requirements
What to Build
Build anything that meaningfully explores the intersection of humans and AI.
Your project could be:
A tool that solves a problem: Use AI to improve education, accessibility, healthcare, the environment, or everyday life.
A creative collaboration: Build something that combines human imagination with AI-generated art, music, writing, games, or interactive experiences.
A new way to learn: Create an AI-powered tutor, research assistant, learning environment, or educational game.
An experiment with AI: Explore model capabilities, limitations, reliability, reasoning, or human-AI collaboration.
A tool for people: Rethink how humans communicate, create, make decisions, or interact with technology.
Something completely unexpected: Surprise us. The categories above meant to serve as inspiration, not restrictions.
What to Submit
1. Project Overview
A short description of your project, including:
The problem or question you explored.
What you built and who it is for.
How you used AI and what role human input played.
What makes your project interesting and useful.
Any limitations, challenges, or next steps.
2. Code Repository
A link to your code repository, preferably on GitHub, containing the code and relevant files needed to understand your project. Include a README with setup instructions, dependencies, and any required configuration.
If your project uses a no-code platform, hardware, or another format that doesn't fit a conventional code repository, provide an equivalent link to the project files, prototype, or documentation.
3. Demo Video (1โ€“3 minutes)
A short video demonstrating your project. Show what it does, how it works, and what makes it worth exploring. You may include a brief explanation of the problem and your approach, but prioritize demonstrating the actual project.
A prototype or proof of concept is welcome. Your submission does not need to be a fully polished product.

Judging Criteria
Creativity and Originality: 25%
Does the project present an interesting, original idea or approach? Does it explore a possibility that others might overlook?
Human + AI Collaboration: 25%
How thoughtfully does the project combine human input with AI capabilities? Does it demonstrate a meaningful role for each, rather than using AI as an afterthought?
Execution and Technical Achievement: 20%
How well does the project work relative to its goals and scope? Does the team demonstrate effective problem-solving, experimentation, and implementation?
Impact and Usefulness: 15%
Does the project address a meaningful problem, serve a clear purpose, or create a compelling experience for its intended audience?
Demo and Communication: 15%
How effectively does the submission explain and demonstrate the project? Can judges understand what was built, why it matters, and how it works?
